A water jet exhauster, also known as ejector, eductor or jet pump, is a venturi-type solids / fluids transport device with no moving parts. Jet pumps are generally used for transportation of crushed bottom ash, mill rejects (pyrites) and other low capacity applications.
To minimize the effects of abrasion, the jet pump is made of abrasion resistant alloys. The inlet section is normally heat-treated iron; the combining tube (diffuser), high-hardness cast chrome nickel.
On coal milling applications where jet pumps are used to transport the mill rejects or pyrites the equipment is installed directly below the mill outlet and is particularly well suit to ATEX hazardous environments.
